Blanik and LAK Community
- Newsletters.
-
Blanik America News is an occassional
publication devoted to news and information about LET
products. It follows the tradition of "Blanik
News" which appeared in the seventies. Since 1995,
Blanik America News was published bi-annually, and is now
available on a subscription basis.
- Blanik Fun Meets
The first All-Blanik Fun Contest ever
held in America took place at New Castle, Virginia, in
May
1996.
For three days the participants enjoyed cammaraderie,
beautiful weather, pristine surroundings and for many
their first cross-country ventures. Blue Ridge Soaring
Society hosted the Meet. LET and Blanik America sponsored
the event. In August
1997 a
smaller Fun Meet was held at Wenatchee, Washington. In
June 1998
another All-Blanik Fun Contest was held at New Castle,
Virginia, followed in May
1999 this time at Waynesville, Ohio, co-sponsored by
Caesar Creek Soaring Club, LET a.s., and Blanik America,
Inc. In June 2000 another Blanik Fun Contest was
held at New Castle, Virginia, co-sponsored by the Blue
Ridge Soaring Society, LET a.s., and Blanik America, Inc.
- Owners Aliances.
- We are sponsoring
The L33 Solo Owners' Unofficial
Association Home Page. The page was originally set up by one
of the L33 Solo early owners when we were preparing for
the first Blanik Fun Meet. We try to keep it current, and
are hoping to provide space also for a two-place Blanik
owners home page.
- The L33 Owners also keep in contact
with each other through the
L33 newsgroup.
-
There
is also quite an active group of owners and interested
pilots, focused on the LAK-17A high performance sailplane. The owners
keep in contact with each other through the
LAK-17a
newsgroup.
-
Over the course of the past several years
the Civil Air Patrol greatly revived their glider cadet
training program, and added new
equipment.
-
Over
the next several years USAF will acquire a replacement
fleet of training gliders and motorgliders at the USAF
Academy. The USAF purchased from
Blanik America over twenty gliders, L23 Super Blanik,
L13AC Blanik, and L33 Solo gliders, TV-1 and TV-2
trailers, and related accessories. The deliveries of the
new gliders started in the winter of 2002.
Here is a link to the
USAF
Academy Glider Program.
- Owners
and Buyers Exchange. We maintain and update a list of
interested buyers of used Blaniks, and act as a
clearinghouse between owners and buyers.
